Removal of asbestos
Our asbestos teams remove asbestos from both small areas, such as individual pipes and insulation in boiler rooms, and large areas alike. Asbestos has been used in a wide range of manufactured goods, mostly in building materials such as roofing shingles, ceiling and floor tiles (e.g. vinyl floor tiles), paper products, and asbestos cement products.

Our extended asbestos permit also enables us to remove paint and coatings which contain asbestos.
If necessary, we can also make use of Ultra High Pressure equipment and high-power vacuum trucks, which are cost-efficient additional tools for asbestos removal.
Asbestos removal work can only be carried out by a licensed contractor
Asbestos is strong and heat resistant mineral fiber which is why it has been used in a variety of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire retardant.There are specific requirements concerning the skills for the removal of asbestos. For example the overall plan for asbestos removal work must be given to the officials seven days before the work begins. This is because asbestos fibers may be released into the air by the disturbance of asbestos-containing material and cause for example cancer.
Hans Langh has authorized license to remove asbestos given by Occupational Safety and Health Authorities. This means that Hans Langh has the skills and uses necessary equipment for this work. All employees doing asbestos removal are well trained and in good health to accomplish asbestos removal.
Asbestos can be found still in many buildings
Asbestos was used in Finland from 1930’s to 1980’s until the health issues relating to asbestos were discovered. In 1993 production and import of any materials with asbestos was banned and in 1994 also selling and using asbestos was banned. This means that, if demolished, all the buildings that have been built or renovated before 1994 should be checked if they contain asbestos.
Starting 2016 Finnish legislation relating to asbestos obligates to minimize, prevent and follow up workers’ exposure to asbestos. The employer has primary responsibility for the prevention of exposure, but the developer and planner of the construction project also has to ensure safety in asbestos work.
